HPSL Lightning win U-14 EHYSL Division 1

The Hyde Park Lightning Boys U-14 Division 1 team has been officially declared the winners of their division by the East Hudson Youth Soccer League.

The East Hudson Youth Soccer League was established in 1976 with Four member clubs and somewhat less than 300 players. Today, it is the second largest league in New York State with forty-four participating clubs and over 18,000 players.

The Hyde Park Lightning joined the league in 2003 working their way up the divisions. In 2007 the team won division 3 and this past fall moved into division one play. After only one year as a division one team, the Hyde Park Lightning took the Championship Title.

The EHYSL will be honoring the Lightning on July 9, 2009, at the Dinner of Champions being held at Anthony's Pier 9.

REGISTRATION

Fall/spring registration for 2009-2010 is now open. We have switched over to a grade level approach and will now be accepting registrants ages 4 - 18. It is our hope that with this new registration system, we will be able to encourage kids to continue to play town soccer through the end of high school.

Evening Camp: July 27 - July 31 at Creek Road Fields. 5:00 - 8:00 PM

Camp Director:

Coach Dimitri Giatrakis played professionally in Greece and holds a U.S. Soccer Federation National A License. He has been a educator in the Yorktown Central School District for the past 14 years. He served as an Eastern NY ODP Head Coach for 4 years, taking the Boys 1986 team to the National Finals. Subsequently, promoted to ODP North Technical Director where he recruited, supervised and developed the training curriculum for 36 nationally licensed coaches for the next 6 years.
